Mullins High School honored their 2020 spring sports senior athletes Thursday, lighting up the scoreboard on the football field.

The last night under the baseball and softball field lights was an opportunity to celebrate the senior class despite having their seasons cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The scoreboard displayed “2020” to honor the Auctioneers baseball, softball and track teams with players taking photos with family members and coaches to capture the moment.

Principal Michael Stone said each sport had its own Senior Night.

“It was great to see them,” Stone said. “It wasn’t all of the students but even a few students it was good to see them.”

Stone called it a touching tribute to the seniors. He’s also thrilled to have an opportunity to welcome senior back for an outdoor graduation ceremony on June 4.

“There are strict guidelines but we will be having a graduation with limited guests,” he said. “It’s wonderful because we did everything we could in not having a recorded virtual graduation. It’s just great that we are able to get the class together one last time as a whole to congratulate and honor them.”
