“Following a spectacular Daytona 500 event last weekend, we’re excited to kick-off Darlington Raceway’s 2019 campaign with tickets now officially going on sale to the public,” track President Kerry Tharp said. “We want all of our loyal race fans to come out and enjoy throwback weekend up close and personal this season as we honor the 1990-94 era of the sport on Aug. 31 and Sept. 1.”
Fans who purchase tickets from Feb. 22 to March 1 will receive free admission to the Bojangles’ Legends Breakfast (while supplies last), which is considered one of the most special moments for fans at the track’s Labor Day race weekend. Now in its fifth year, it will once again feature a panel of NASCAR Hall of Famers and legends that made an everlasting impact on the sport.
The Bojangles’ Legends Breakfast will take place on Sept. 1 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. in the track’s hospitality village, which has a new location in the Fan Display Area behind the main frontstretch grandstands.
Darlington Raceway will honor specific moments and heroes of the 1990-94 era of the sport’s storied history for throwback weekend, including the conclusion of 2010 NASCAR Hall of Famer Richard Petty’s career and the beginning of 2019 NASCAR Hall of Fame inductee Jeff Gordon’s career.
The track will also pay special tribute during its 2019 race weekend to Spartanburg native David Pearson, who has the most all-time NASCAR Cup victories at the track “Too Tough To Tame” with 10 wins, among other moments. Additionally, this year marks the 70th running of the Bojangles’ Southern 500.
Darlington Raceway’s award-winning throwback campaign is “The Official Throwback Weekend of NASCAR” featuring the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Bojangles’ Southern 500 on Sept. 1 at 6 p.m. on NBCSN. The NASCAR XFINITY Series Sport Clips Haircuts VFW 200 will race on Aug. 31 at 4 p.m. on NBC.
