LEXINGTON, S.C. – Brandon McIlwain had a double, a triple and drove in three runs as the Florence RedWolves earned an 11-6 victory over Lexington County on Friday.
Florence improved to 17-22 overall and 7-6 in the second half. The RedWolves host the High Point-Thomasville HiToms on Saturday at 7 p.m. in their next game.
McIlwain got the scoring started for Florence with an RBI double in the third to tie the game and J.T. Weber’s two-run single made it 3-1 in favor of the RedWolves.
It was 6-6 in the seventh when Florence exploded for four runs. Eldrige Figueroa got the ball rolling with a two-run homer and McIlwain capped it off by driving in two more with a triple to center.
McIlwain and Kenny Piper each had three hits on the night while Weber and Jon Mitchell Carter both had a pair of hits. The each finished with two RBI as well.
Austin Moody and Nathan Bock combined to toss 4 2/3 innings of scoreless relief with four strikeouts and one walk between them.
