LEXINGTON, S.C. – Nathan Bock and Brett Manis combined to pitch three scoreless innings to close out a 3-2 victory for the Florence RedWolves on Monday in the opening game of a doubleheader against Lexington County.
The RedWolves earned a sweep by taking the second contest 9-0 to improve to 19-23 overall and 9-7 in the second half.
A two-run sixth inning was the difference in the opener as Florence got an RBI single from J.T. Weber, who also came around to score on an error as the RedWolves grabbed a one-run lead.
Weber had two hits, including a double, along with Grey Epps. Brandon McIlwain drove in the other Florence run in the top of the first with an RBI fielder’s choice. He also tripled in the game.
In Game 2, Florence scored eight runs in the first two innings and got seven shutout innings from Brady Greene, A.G. Yowell and Duncan Callahan.
McIlwain was 2 for 2 with two RBI and three runs scored. Weber also had two hits and drove in a run and Mitch Barrow added an RBI as well.
