ASHEBORO, N.C. – Asheboro homered three times during Thursday’s first five innings and handed the Florence RedWolves their fifth consecutive loss.

This time, Florence lost 7-5 and saw its record drop to 2-8.

The Copperheads hit a solo home run in the first, a two-run homer in the third and another two-run homer in the fifth. Also that inning, Asheboro hit an RBI single.

Florence did not score until the top of the seventh with RBI singles by Jake Swartz and Grey Epps.

Asheboro answered that with yet another homer in the bottom of the seventh – Myles Nicholson’s second solo blast of the game.

The RedWolves added two more runs in the top of the eighth with an RBI groundout by Lex Tuten and run-scoring double by Nathan Medrano to get within 7-4. A Mitch Barrow RBI single in the top of the ninth then narrowed the deficit to 7-5.

Florence hosts Martinsville at 7:05 p.m. Friday, which is Autism Awareness night and Help 4 Kids Night at Sparrow Stadium. Bring in four single-serve items such as; Ramen Noodles, Applesauce, Fruit Cups, Pop Tarts or Pop top cans of Ravioli, Spaghetti, Vienna Sausages and Beanie Weenies; get a ticket to a future home game.
