HARTSVILLE -- Hartland Lopez West, 76, widower of Elizabeth Gertrude Hatcher Rogers, died Saturday, June 29, 2019 at his home after an illness. Mr. West was born August 14, 1942 in Helena, AR, the son of the late Elmer H. and Ollie Mae West. He had retired from Lucent Technologies. Mr. West was a US Army veteran, having served during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Waccamaw Indian Tribe and was also a member of the Birdtown Fire Department.Surviving Mr. West are: 2 Sons: Toby (Sheila) Rogers of Huntersville, NC and Brenden West of Hartsville; 2 Grandsons: Hunter Rogers and Harrison Rogers; and a Sister: Wilma "Sissy" (Bill) Hosford of Myrtle Beach.Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, July 3, at Devotion Gardens Cemetery, with Rev. Buddy Wiggins officiating. The services will be directed by Cox-Collins Funeral Home of Mullins.Visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at Cox-Collins Funeral Home.Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 950 48th Ave. N., Myrtle Beach, SC 29577.
