FLORENCE Mrs. Virginia Osburn Miller, age 86, died Sunday, June 30, 2019, at home.Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday, July 8, 2019, at Waters-Powell Funeral Home Chapel with burial following in Florence National Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service at the funeral home.Mrs. Miller was born in Marlboro County, SC, in 1932. She graduated from high school in Hamlet, NC, and the Carolina College of Commerce in Florence, SC. She served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict as NCOIC of Operations and Training in the 507th Tactical Control Headquarters at Pope Air Force Base.After marriage, Mrs. Miller made her home in Florence. She was a longtime member of St. John's Church. She was a member of both the Sonatina and Tarantella Dance Clubs. She retired in 1988 from Florence School District One.Mrs. Miller is survived by a daughter, Virginia M. Davis, of Winston-Salem, NC; two sons, Alton Miller, III, (Michelle) of Surfside, SC, and John Miller of Eastover, SC; four grandchildren, Michelle M. Poston (Joe), Lt. Col. Paul Miller (Michelle), Georgia Miller, and Samira Davis; two great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Miller and Collin Poston. She is also survived by a brother, Wallace Eugene Osburn (Muriel).She was predeceased by her husband, A. W. Miller, Jr.; parents, Henry O. and Nellie P. Osburn; and three brothers, James Osburn (Muriel), Bruce Osburn (Marie), and Kenneth Osburn (Mary).The family would like to express their gratitude to the many individuals and organizations that assisted in her care in her last months.
