Funeral services for Mr. Freddie Ray Abson will be conducted 1:00 PM, Friday, June 7th at Lawson Grove Baptist Church, 3585 Lawson Grove Road, Hartsville, with burial to follow in St. John United Methodist Church Cemetery, Lamar, SC. He died on Monday, June 3rd in a local hospital after an illness.Freddie was born in Darlington, SC to the late Robert Abson, Sr. and Ruth Wingate Abson. He was a 1974 graduate of Lamar High School, and he later received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Public Administration from South Carolina State College. He was formerly employed for over 38 years as an Eligibility Specialist with the Darlington County Department of Social Services until his retirement in 2016.He was united in holy matrimony to Cynthia Nichols, and the union had one daughter, Chanae Nyesha Abson. Survivors include: his wife, Cynthia Nichols Abson; his daughter, Chanae Nyesha Abson; one sister, Beatrice Abson Scott; two brothers, Robert (Gloria) Abson, Jr. and James E. Abson; one aunt, Goldie Davis; father-in-law, Ulysses Nichols; mother-in-law, Ella M. Nichols; sister-in-law, Felicia (Howard) Brown; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and close friends.Viewing will be from 1:00-8:00 this evening at the funeral home.
