LATTA (OAK GROVE)- Marion Nell Brigman Love, 90, joined her Lord and Savior in Heaven, Wednesday, January 15, 2020, at McLeod Hospice House. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, January 18, 2020, at Bethesda Southern Methodist Church with Pastor Lanny Carpenter and Rev. Craig Alford officiating. The burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Friday, January 17, 2020, at Kannaday Funeral Home in Latta.Marion was born in Dillon County, South Carolina, June 28, 1929, the daughter of the late Walter Marvin Brigman, Sr. and the late Mary Bounds Brigman. Mrs. Love attended Winthrop College and graduated with a Master in Elementary Education from Francis Marion (College) University. She retired as a second grade teacher with Dillon School District Three (Latta). As a faithful member of Bethesda Southern Methodist Church, she taught Sunday School, served as the Church Superintendent and the church pianist.Marion was preceded in death by her husband, John Calvin Love, Sr. and brother, Richard Bounds Brigman. She is survived by her brother, W.M. (Walter) Brigman (Laverne) of Baker, Florida; sisters-in-laws, Alice Faye Brigman (Richard) of Latta, SC; Lucille Smith (Dan J.) of Marion, SC and Norma Jean Rhodes (Kip) of Ocala, FL; brother-in-law, Harry Love (Mildred) of Florence, SC; sons, John Calvin Love, Jr., William "Bill" M. Love (Susan) and David T. Love (Lisa) all of Latta, SC; daughters, Shirley Pelt, Margaret Windham both of Florence, SC and Susan Thornton of Scranton, SC; grandchildren, John J. Barbara Carter Jordan, 78, of Conway, passed away on Thursday, January 16, 2020 in Conway, SC. She was born in Florence, SC, a daughter of the late Ruben Govan Carter and Louise Pope Carter. Barbara graduated from McClenaghan High School and was a member of Unity Baptist Church. She loved taking care of her family. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George W. Jordan, Jr., a son, George "Tripp" Jordan, III, and her brother, Don Carter. Survivors include: a son, Pat (Dina) Jordan; two daughters, Julie Jordan and Chrysti (Jay) Watford; seven grandchildren, Bobby (Graciela) Watford, Cameron Watford, Jenna (Adam) Swindler, Jordan Richardson, Will Richardson, Kristen Richardson, Trey Jordan; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Gloria C. Braxton. A private graveside service will be held at Evergreen Baptist Church Cemetery. Russell Ray Cain died on January 14, 2020, at UNC Rex Heart and Vascular Hospital in Raleigh, NC. Russell was born on April 23, 1935, in Florence, SC, to his parents Raymond and Herger Gee Cain. He graduated from McClenaghan High School and served in the US Air Force from 1954 to 1961. In 1998, Russell retired as the NC/SC sales manager after 30 years with Savannah Sugar Company. He earned the nickname "Sugarcane" by his selling of sugar products and for his sweet disposition.A devoted husband and father, Russell enjoyed retirement with his golfing buddies and bowling. Family history was of great interest to him with frequent trips to his home place in SC. He was an active member of Apex United Methodist Church and the Ernest Workers Sunday School class.Russell is survived by his wife Berth F. Cain of the home; son Steve Cain of Apex, NC; daughter Debbie (Albert) Sanders of Clayton, NC; son Mike Cain of Apex, NC; son Jeff (Lisa) Cain of Pink Hill, NC; step-daughters Cecelia Young, Cassandra Vines, and Celena Moore all of Raleigh, NC; grandchildren Spenser Cain, Madison Cain, Ryan Edmonds, Brody Sanders, Trevor Sanders, Brittany Cain, Johnathan Howard and Landon Howard; one grand grandchild; his sister Martha (Richard) Bird of Florence, SC; and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents and his first wife Roslen (Lynn) Allen Cain.A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2020 at Apex UMC with a reception at the church following the service. MYRTLE BEACH -- Carroll Stanley Boatwright, age 83, passed away Thursday, January 16, 2020.Born February 23, 1936 in Marion County, he was the son of the late Percy Leholms and Virginia Bass Boatwright. Mr. Boatwright was a member and former deacon of Jamestown Baptist Church, where he taught Sunday school for more than 40 years. He retired as Master Sergeant in the US Air Force after 20 years of service. During that time, he served during the Korean and Vietnam wars. Mr. Boatwright later retired from Horry-Georgetown Technical College as an instructor of heating and air conditioning as well as solar energy.Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Geneva Cribb Boatwright, a daughter-in-law, Janet Jensen Boatwright, a son-in-law, H. Franklin Burroughs, and a brother, David Boatwright.Surviving Mr. Boatwright are one son, Jeffrey W. Boatwright of Conway; a daughter, Carol B. Burroughs of Conway; one grandson, Andrew F. Burroughs; one great-granddaughter, Theresa Porter; three sisters, Linda Johnson (Ronnie) of Johnsonville, Vikki Cox (C.W.), and Deana Staton (Herb), all of Brittons Neck; and his caregiver, Kimberly Pollock.Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, January 19, 2020 at Jamestown Baptist Church with Rev. Robbin King and Rev. Jamey Collins officiating. Mario attended the Public Schools of Florence and was a 1975 graduate of Wilson High School. Survivors include his parents, James and Earnestine Thomas; two brothers, Roderick (Stacia) Sellers of Hilton Head, South Carolina and Edgar L. Thomas of Columbia, South Carolina; one sister, Shonda Thomas of Florence, South Carolina; a host of nephews; nieces; other relatives; special friends and friends.
