FLORENCE, S.C. -- No winter storm watch has been posted for the Pee Dee yet, but that likely will change by Monday morning as a wintery mix of a bit of everything heads toward northeastern South Carolina.
"It's going to be a sloppy mess out there," National Weather Service Meteorologist Tim Armstrong said Sunday afternoon.
The forecast that will be posted later this afternoon calls for accumulations of up to a quarter of an inch of ice and a half inch of sleet and snow, Armstrong said.
Armstrong said the forecast will call for snow, sleet and ice for the Pee Dee and it'll likely start Tuesday morning with the storm picking up Tuesday afternoon and the worst of it currently forecast for Tuesday night into Wednesday morning.
And what falls will likely stick around for a couple of days as Tuesday and Wednesday are both currently forecast to be "chilly days," Armstrong said.
If Pee Dee residents can tough out one more winter weather system Armstrong said the long-range weather models call for a significant warming trend to kick in next week.
