FLORENCE, S.C. – Children took to the courts Tuesday morning on the second day of tennis camp at the Dr. Eddie Floyd Florence Tennis Center.
The city of Florence is hosting the four-day camp for children ages 5-16. The July camp is the second and final camp of the summer.
The camp offers lessons for beginners and more advanced players. According to Rob Hill, the director of tennis, students learn a variety of skills that are tailored to the skill level of the children.
For beginner players, coaches teach basics, such as types of shots, parts of the court, strokes and footwork. For more advanced players, coaches work on advanced tactics, such as shot selection and match strategy.
This week’s camp is the second camp of the summer at the tennis center, according to the city of Florence website.
In addition to summer camps, the tennis center hosts junior tournaments, college tournaments a professional tournament and beginner programs for juniors and adults. The center also hosts tennis clinics and private lessons.
