FLORENCE, S.C. -- A Florence woman has been charged with leaving the scene of a crash involving death in connection with the early Sunday morning hit-and-run death of a Timmonsville man on West Palmetto Street.

Nailani Rena Canty, 21, of 1412 Vince Circle, was arrested and charged by the South Carolina Highway Patrol, according to Cpl. Sonny Collins. She was booked into the Florence County Detention Center shortly before 4 p.m. Tuesday.

Tyson Johnson, was struck and killed while he was a pedestrian on West Palmetto Street near Ivey Lane, according to a release from the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

The Patrol had been seeking a 2010-2012 Buick Lacrosse in the crash.

Canty will have bond set following her initial court appearance.
