FLORENCE, S.C. -- A 29-year-old man died late Thursday night in a single-vehicle crash on East National Cemetery Road.

The victim was a front-seat passenger in a 2015 Dodge pickup that was east bound on the road at 11:20 p.m. when it ran off the right side of the road and into a guardrail, struck a tree, rolled and then sank in a creek, said Lance Cpl. Matt Southern, South Carolina Highway Patrol.

The crash happened near Swamp Fox Drive.

Neither the passenger nor the driver were wearing seatbelts, Southern said.

Florence County Coroner Keith von Lutcken identified the victim as Jeremy Ryan Sufrin, 29, of South Windsor, Connecticut.

The driver, who Southern didn't identify, was transported to Florence area hospital for treatment of their injuries, he said.
