FLORENCE, S.C. – 100 Black Men of the Pee Dee will host an interest and organizational meeting on Wednesday, July 17.

The Pee Dee chapter is being organized by a steering committee of S.C. Rep. Terry Alexander, Judge Linward C. Edwards, Chaquez McCall, Isaac Wilson, Dr. John Keith and Jerry Keith.

Members of the Columbia chapter of 100 Black Men Inc. will attend the organizational meeting to offer goal setting and organizational guidance for the Pee Dee Chapter. 100 Black Men of the Pee Dee will seek to raise awareness, provide access to health care and give information that will ultimately promote healthy lifestyles.

The meeting will be hosted by Alexander.

Alexander, a Democrat, represents House District 59 which includes portions of northern Florence County and eastern Darlington County. He has been a member of the house since 2007.

100 Black Men is a service organization whose mission is to improve the quality of life within its communities and enhance educational and economic opportunities for all African-Americans through a worldwide comprehensive mentoring and educational program.

The organization is committed to the intellectual development of youth and the economic empowerment of the African-American community based on the following precepts: respect for family, spirituality, justice and integrity.

The meeting is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. at the Dolce Vita Café & More located at 160 S. Dargan St. in downtown Florence.
