FLORENCE, S.C. – Two children who were left in an unattended hot car Tuesday afternoon at the Walmart on South Irby Street in Florence were hospitalized and their mother was arrested.

Alyssa Oliver was charged with two counts of unlawful conduct toward a child and transported to the Florence County Detention Center.

The children were placed in the care of the South Carolina Department of Social Services.

Officers from the Florence Police Department responded Tuesday afternoon to a complaint of children left alone in vehicle at the Walmart at 2014 S. Irby St. in Florence.

Officers located two children alone in an unattended vehicle. Oliver later returned to the vehicle.

The children were taken to the hospital for an evaluation.
