FLORENCE, S.C. – The American Red Cross distributed cleanup supplies Friday in Florence, Nichols, Lake City and Olanta for people affected by Hurricane Florence.

The kits contain gloves, bleach, a mop, a broom, trash bags, masks, rakes and bottled water.

Residents will be able to pick-up clean-up kits (which come with gloves, bleach, a mop, a broom, trash bags and other supplies) as well as masks, rakes and bottled water. Details of the distribution are below.

In Florence, the kits were given out at the Windy Hill Volunteer Fire Department at 896 E. Ashby Road. The other distribution sites were the Nichols City Hall, the Lake City Fire Department and the Olanta Fire Department.

In an email, the Red Cross appealed for financial donations:

“People can text the word ‘FLORENCE’ to 90999 to make a $10 donation. After a big disaster, an average of 91 cents of each dollar is spent on shelter, food, relief items, health and emotional support, and financial assistance, as well as the logistics and support needed for our volunteers to help those affected.”
