FLORENCE Shirley Greer Church of Florence, SC, passed away on Sunday, June 16, 2019, after a brief illness.She is survived by her loving husband, Fred Church, her only daughter, Susan Jackson ("Tall Daughter" Roxanne Sprague), Bill (Lisa) Church, Pam (John) Watford, Jimmy Church (Steven Gallagher), Alta Greer Sparks; her sister, Nancy Grimsley Wallace; multiple grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.She is predeceased by her parents, Lonnie E. Grimsley and Margaret Langston Grimsley; her brothers, Lonnie Grimsley, Jr., J. Carlisle Grimsley, and Robbie Lee Grimsley; and previous husbands, Paul Rung and Jack D. Greer.Shirley graduated from McClenaghan High School in 1956. She was involved in multiple community groups and clubs through the years including the Morning Glory Garden Club, Florence Symphony Guild, The Dance Club, and The Florence Country Club. She also supported the Florence Little Theatre.She retired from what began as Peoples Bank, first as a teller and working her way to Vice-President in only ten years. She loved her customers and co-workers and made many good friends during those years.She was a member of Central United Methodist Church for over 40 years and was the presiding president of the Sarah Blanton Sunday School Class. This privilege brought much joy and happiness to her. She was also a member of the Glenn-Epps-Moody Circle at the church.If there was one thing Shirley was known for, it was the contagious joy that she brought wherever she was. Always a kind word and smile on her face. Oh! And her hats don't forget the hats! We will always carry her in our hearts and always hear her voice saying, "God loves you and so do I!"The family wishes to express special thanks to her longtime friends, Nelda Fowler and Juliet Coleman, for their never-ending love and support during this difficult time, and to McLeod Hospice for their guidance and compassionate care.Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 19, 2019, at Central United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, at Waters-Powell Funeral Home in Florence.
