HARTSVILLE, S.C. – A third set of Red Fox seniors have signed letters of intent to play college sports, bringing the total to over two dozen out of the Hartsville High School Class of 2019.
Surrounded by family and friends, students packed one side of the Hartsville Arena as each athlete took center stage for the festivities held Wednesday morning.
Zachory Farmer chose to remain in town to play soccer at Coker College. Farmer is a three-year starter with 60 games to date, 333 saves and 27 shutouts. He is also a two-year All-Region 6 keeper.
Rod’Darius Gattison will travel to Georgia Military College to play football. Gattison led the Red Foxes in interceptions this past season with five. He was responsible for 35 total tackles, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery and one defensive touchdown.
Jake James will link up with the wrestling team at Lander University. James has 85 career wins over the years for the Foxes with 31 wins this year with 16 pins. He finished fifth in state in 2018 and second in state in 2019 after capturing the Lower State Championship the week before. He is the captain of the wrestling team.
J.D. Pendergrass, two-sport standout, chose to continue his football career at Victory Valley College. Pendergrass had 32 pass receptions for 554 yards and seven touchdowns for the Red Foxes.
Garrett Gainey committed to Winthrop University to play baseball. He has three starts this season and sports a 1-0 record.
