HARTSVILLE, S.C. - Hartsville Fire Department will be hosting a car seat installation check at The Edition, 221 N. Fifth St., Hartsville, on July 17, from 3–5 p.m.

This drop-in safety check is free of charge for anyone interested in ensuring that their car seat is installed properly or installing a new car seat.

Seven members of the Hartsville Fire Department are taking part in a three-day class conducted by the Safe Kids Organization. Upon completion of the class, these firefighters will be certified for car seat installations.

“We are excited about this opportunity for the Hartsville Fire Department to give back to the community while ensuring that children are being transported properly in vehicles,” said Hartsville Fire Chief Jeff Burr. “Proper car seat installation is imperative and could save a child’s life if involved in an accident.” The Hartsville Fire Department encourages the community to come out and take advantage of this opportunity.
