Motorist grateful for Hartsville man’s kindness

Yesterday, I had a major blowout of the left rear tire of my car on the Hartsville bypass. After seeing a warning light about low air pressure, there wasn’t enough time to find a safe place to stop. Right before Hartsville crossroads on the bypass, I heard a loud explosion and felt the car shift around.

I crossed the median and stopped at the Refuel Markette. Four wonderful folks stopped and asked if I needed help! Needing to speak with my husband first about how to proceed, I thanked them and waited to contact a friend to come and be with me.

At this time, a young man named Laverne Ketter, a local mechanic, pulled up and said he was going to help me! By then, I was ready to accept help and proceed to Florence to a Goodyear Tire business for removal and replacement of the tire. This special kind man had the tools in his car to jack mine up, remove the tire, crawl under my Traverse to get the “doughnut,” put it on and send me on my way. He did not want any payment.

First I want to publicly thank this man who renewed my faith in angels on earth! Second, I would like to applaud Hartsville for its kind citizens. And thirdly, I want to thank God for watching over me that day!
