Band of Oz

The eight-member Band of Oz will return to Florence for the second Florence After Five concert of 2019 on Friday.

FLORENCE, S.C. – The Band of Oz will return Friday evening to the Florence After Five stage.

The band features eight members: Keith Houston on bass guitar and guitar; David Hicks on drums; trumpeter Chuck French, who also sings; David Franks on keyboard, harmonica and vocals; Jerry West on guitar and vocals; Scott Fine on trombone and vocals; and Tim and Daniel Morris. Tim also plays the trumpet and sings. Daniel plays the saxophone and sings.

The Band of Oz has performed at Florence After Five concerts in 2013, 2015, 2016 and 2018. It also performed at the 2017 South Carolina Pecan Festival.

The Band of Oz has been touring the Southeast since the 1960s in various forms. The Band of Oz usually performs beach music.

Food also will be available from various vendors, including Victors, Wholly Smokin’, Rita’s, Big Stan’s, Erika’s, Liberty Station, Edible Arrangements, Sweet Tooth, Local Motive, Low Country Kettle Corn and Fatz Cafe.

Soft drinks, beer and wine will be available for purchase. Featured craft beers are Sam Adams Summer Ale, New England IPA and Lager.

This month’s Kids Zone features ScienceSouth.

Admission is free compliments of corporate sponsors Victors, Sam Adams Summer Ale, MUSC Health-Florence Medical Center and Carolina Bank. The monthly featured sponsor is Two Men and a Truck.

Attendees are welcome to bring chairs, but coolers are not permitted.

Florence After Five is a concert series organized by the Florence Downtown Development Corporation to attract Pee Dee residents back to downtown Florence.

Florence After Five concerts are held from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. on the 100 block of South Dargan Street on the last Friday of the month, April through October. Many of the downtown establishments feature “after parties” with live entertainment following Florence After Five.
