FLORENCE, S.C. — The band Willy Pete is giving a concert at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the Francis Marion University Performing Arts Center.

Brandon Goff, a professor of music at FMU and one of the founders of the band, said a special invitation is extended to local veterans.

Willy Pete performs at military facilities in the United States and abroad at events sponsored by the USO, MWR and the Wounded Warrior Project.

According to its website, the band’s “music includes rock, pop, country … really, just about anything that will help someone deployed far away feel a little closer to home. Band members also write songs for and about the troops, drawing from the lifestyle and stories of military personnel they encounter on the road.”

Reservations may be made by calling the Performing Arts Center at 843-661-4444 between noon and 5 p.m.
