FLORENCE, S.C. – Street party season in downtown Florence is almost here.

It starts Friday with the Lucky Shamrock Festival.

The Junior League of Florence will hold its sixth annual St. Patrick’s Day celebration from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. in the 100 block of South Dargan Street.

Admission is free and the beer is green. Attendees of all ages are welcome to attend. Besides live music by The Entertainers, the event will include food, music, cold drinks, a kid zone and other local flavor.

Held in conjunction with the Downtown Florence Development Corporation, the Lucky Shamrock event was first held in 2014. The response from the community was so enthusiastic that the Junior League decided to continue along with the event as a major fundraiser for the organization.

The festival enables the community to come together and enjoy a relaxing evening of entertainment and fun.

Founded in 1948, the Junior League of Florence is an organization of women who are dedicated to promoting volunteerism to help women realize their full potential. Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable, as it strives to make a difference in the community through the action and leadership of trained volunteers.

Money that comes in through fundraisers goes back to the community through grants and scholarships.
