PREP ROUNDUP: West Florence gets first win of season

Eddie McKenzie rushed for 198 yards and had two touchdowns and Alex Howell kicked a school-record 51-yard field goal as West Florence beat Darlington 36-6 and won their first game of the season.

Jalin Dixon also had two touchdowns for the Knights.

Lamar 27, Marion 13

MARION — Lamar capitalized on seven Marion turnovers and beat Marion at Fox Field.

Lamar remained unbeaten at 3-0, while Marion falls to 1-2.

The Silver Foxes forced five interceptions and recovered two fumbles.

Marion struck on its opening drive on a 3-yard touchdown run from Lue Clemmons. Aikil Sanders added the PAT to give the Swamp Foxes a 7-0 lead at the 10:37 mark.

However, Lamar responded with 20 unanswered points in the first half, starting with a 6-yard TD run from Chris Peoples.

Peoples added a 23-yard touchdown reception in the second quarter to make it 14-7 and Jalen Martin scored the last touchdown of the half off a screen pass for 21 yards out.

The Swamp Foxes threw three interceptions in the third quarter alone, while Lamar padded their lead to 27-7, thanks to 48-yard touchdown reception from B.J. Goodson.

Wilson 49, Timmonsville 0

TIMMONSVILLE — Braxton Ivery ran for a touchdown and threw a 38-yard TD pass to Justin Kelly as the Tigers snapped a two-game losing streak.

Devin Borden also ran for a touchdown and the Tigers’ defense had two interceptions.

Wilson fill face West Florence on Friday.

Lake City 54, Socastee 28

LAKE CITY — Shon Carson and Cody Cooper each ran for more than 100 yards and combined for five touchdowns in the Panthers’ rout of the Braves.

Carson ran for 122 yards on nine carries and scored three touchdowns, while Cooper made the most of his three carries, ripping off long runs for 134 yards and a pair of scores.

Cooper opened the scoring with a 91-yard run and added a 40-yarder for the Panthers’ final tally.

Carson scored on runs of 57, 26 and 10 yards.

Quarterback DaShawn Butler ran for 93 yards on 14 carries for Lake City. The Panthers’ Quinn McClam scored on a 60-yard fumble return and on a 30-yard run.

Johnsonville 28, Creek Bridge 22

JOHNSONVILLE — Davonta Brown scored on a 1-yard run with 5:04 left to break a 22-all tie and Johnsonville won its fourth straight.

Brison Allison also scored two touchdowns for the Flashes.

Creek Bridge had tied the game on a 48-yard pass with 8:39 remaining to tie it.

BISHOPVILLE —  Barrett Goodson caught six passes for 101 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Byrnes Schools’ rout of Robert E. Lee.

The Trojans outgained the Cavaliers 391-136. Shaq Bacote led Byrnes’ defense with eight tackles, including one for loss and a sack, and two interceptions.
