Latta lineman Donell Stanley has been named one of the five finalists for Mr. Football in South Carolina, which were announced Tuesday.
Stanley is the first player from Latta to be nominated for the award. The senior is a four-starter on the offensive and defensive line and has 62 tackles and six sacks this year.
Stanley committed to South Carolina on Friday and also has been selected to play in the Shrine Bowl and U.S. Army All-American game in San Antonio.
The four other finalists were Spring Valley linebacker Christian Miller, Stratford quarterback Jacob Park, Northwestern quarterback Mason Rudolph and Daniel running back Jae’leon Ogelsby.
The winner will be named Dec. 13 at the North-South All-Star banquet in Myrtle Beach.
