Coastal Carolina football players showed off their new uniforms during the school's annual picture day Sunday.
The team's new Russell Athletic uniforms feature a Chanticleer wing design on the shoulders and as trim on the pants.
Coach David Bennett said his son helped create the idea after seeing Oregon and Colorado State use similar designs.
"Everyone brags about the Oregon Ducks' uniforms, because they're the best looking," sophomore offensive lineman Jamey Cheatwood said. "As soon as I saw them, that's what I thought of, so they look great."
Players say the uniforms fit a little tighter than others, but Cheatwood says that actually helps on the offensive line.
"On the field, the defensive lineman like to grab us and stuff," he said. "So as far as being tight, they won't be able to grab the jersey as well."
For some the snug fit is even a source of pride.
"Shows a little bit of my physical attributes I have," junior linebacker Andrae Jacobs said.
The Chanticleers have jerseys and pants in both teal and white. They also have black pants, and expect to add black jerseys next year.
