DARLINGTON – Charlie Poole, former football and track coach at Lamar High School, has joined the staff of Darlington High School as head
track coach and math teacher, district sources confirmed Monday.

“Charlie and I worked together several years ago when we were both at Darlington Junior High, and I was impressed with his teaching ability,”
said Darlington High principal Pearl Jeffords.

“I am delighted to have a math teacher of his caliber at our school. That he’s also an excellent track coach is an added benefit.”

Poole was chosen as the 2005-06 Boys’ Track Coach of the Year by the South Carolina Athletic Coaches Association (SCACA).

During his 19-year tenure as Lamar High’s track coach, he led his team to over 15 regional championships and eight Class A State Championships.
