Pee Dee Academy defeats Florence Christian 36-15
Pee Dee Academy’s big win over Florence Christian moves the Golden Eagles to 2-4 on the year and 1-2 in region play. They will travel to Quinby to face long-time rival Byrnes next Friday. Kick-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
Lake City upsets Myrtle Beach
Longtime Lake City football supporter John McCutcheon died Tuesday after a long illness. According to Panther football fans, McCutcheon might have given his team one more assist Friday night. A late field goal attempt by Myrtle Beach sailed wide and the Panthers held on to win 14-13.
Greenwood holds off West Florence
After trailing the entire game, West Florence quarterback Paul Pizzuti nearly led the Knights to a last-minute comeback Friday night at Memorial Stadium against Greenwood. However, it was the Eagles, led by standout defensive back-turned quarterback D.J. Swearinger, who held on for the 17-10 win.
PREP FOOTBALL ROUNDUP: Wild Gators topple Bears
Quandon Christian rushed for 158 yards and two third-quarter touchdowns as Lake View earned a 13-6 win against Region 8-A foe Carvers Bay on Friday in high school football action.

High school football is a tricky sport. It can leave you with a ton of emotions and on any given night, you never know which ones you will walk away with. For Pee Dee Academy Friday night, the feelings of frustration and confusion reigned after a 24-16 loss to Calhoun.
Warriors opportunistic in win over Eagles
Dillon Christian capitalized on several turnovers Friday night en route to a 40-7 win over Florence Christian.
Three of the Warriors six touchdowns came shortly after recovering two fumbles and intercepting a Michael Wilson pass.
PREP FOOTBALL ROUNDUP: Hemingway knocks off Carvers Bay
James Flowers’ 41-yard scoring run with 7:09 remaining in the fourth quarter proved to be the game winner as Hemingway upset Carvers Bay, 13-8, in the Region 8-A opener for both teams.

Doug Shaw Stadium rededicated
Fourteen years after Myrtle Beach High School football coach Doug Shaw turned out the lights at the schools football stadium, $3.5 million has been spent to re-invigorate it. With new field turf, track, stands and a state-of-the-art video scoreboard, Shaw’s family, team and the community will rededicate the stadium Friday night.
West Florence-Wilson game postponed
Friday’s West Florence-Wilson football game has been postponed.
West Florence’s Goodman selected to All-American Bowl
He never entertained the thought of football until being persuaded by a friend in seventh grade. Now five years later West Florence defensive end Malliciah Goodman is set to play against the nation’s best players.

For most of the season, Darlington has had trouble keeping leads in the second half.
That wasn’t the case against South Florence.
Bears lose Scott for the season
Carvers Bay is coming off a bitter sweet season in which the Bears finished as the runner up for the state championship in Class A Division I. Now their returning starting quarterback that guided them to Orangeburg won’t have a chance of leading them back to the title game.

Tigers eye another city title
The Wilson Tigers held the city championship for the last three years. In order to win it a fourth time, they’ll have to go through West Florence and one of the best defenses in the state.
Stingy defense has Bears off to unbeaten start
Five weeks into the season, the Carvers Bay Bears are the lone undefeated team from the Pee Dee still standing.
Not bad considering the Bears had to replace 18 starters at the beginning of the season.
Falcons toppled by Knights
Darlington High School held its homecoming game on Friday as the team faced off against the West Florence Knights. Although Darlington held a 7-6 lead going into halftime, the Falcons fell 34-10.
Panthers fall to Lewisville
The McBee Panthers lost their first region game of the 2008 season Friday night with a 28-14 loss to Lewisville.
