Panthers win features two former Chanticleers
They’re the inaugural Coastal Carolina NFL players, and yesterday Tyler Thigpen and Quinton Teal had their inaugural meeting on opposing sidelines in a 34-0 Panthers win.
Myrtle Beach native wins first PGA tournament

Pair of Chants earn Big South honors
Two days after their first home win of the year, two CCU football players took home the most important weekly conference awards. QB Zach MacDowall earned Big South offensive player of the week, and LB DJ Rice took home Big South defensive player of the week for their efforts in Coastal’s 31-3 romp over Towson.

Chiefs to start CCU’s Thigpen at QB against Falcons
Tyler Thigpen, the first player from Coastal Carolina selected in the NFL draft, will be the first to start at quarterback. The 24-year-old Thigpen will be under center on Sunday for Kansas City when the Chiefs go to Atlanta. It will be exactly 11 months after the struggling young Chiefs (0-2) last won a game.

CCU Men’s Hoops schedule released
The Coastal Carolina University men’s basketball team and Head Coach Cliff Ellis has released its 2008-09 schedule. The Chanticleers will play 14 games in the Conway/Myrtle Beach area and play an exempt tournament for the first time since 1991-92.

Coastal Carolina, Charleston Southern and South Carolina State are each taking on bigger name opponents from the Football Bowl Subdivision. One day after passing out at practice, Coastal Carolina Jr. Wide Receiver Jamar Anderson was back, not dressed, and drinking plenty of fluids. “It surprised me, I do everything I can to stay healthy,” said Anderson. “I eat a lot, drink plenty of Gatorade. But I must of done something wrong.”
