Milton Jennings hasn’t stopped traveling this summer.  The Clemson commitment is on a Myrtle Beach-based travelling AAU team and has also participated in some NBA players workout camps, most notably LeBron James and Amare Stoudamire.

Jennings verbally committed in April to Clemson, even though he has a year remaining at Pinewood Prep.  Jennings says he picked Clemson because Oliver Purnell’s program is on the rise, and he would love the chance to play with Trevor Booker and Demontez Stitt.  He also said it was important to him to make a name for himself in his home state.

This week Jennings in on the Grand Strand, playing for Beach Ball Select in the Big Shots AAU tournaments at Socastee High School.  Beach Ball Select is coached by Socastee Head Coach Tommy Johnson and also features Wilson’s Michael Thompson, Myrtle Beach’s Chris Gore and Wilson’s Shamel Bracket.  There are two separate Big Shots tournaments, one Wednesday through Thursday, the other Friday through Saturday.  Beach Ball Select lost in the semifinals of the first tournament, and lost in their opening game Friday of the second tournament.  Jennings fouled out with four minutes remaining in the latter game.

The 6’9”, 200 lb Jennings will play either shooting guard or small forward at Clemson.  At the LeBron camp last week, Jennings was called the best catch and shoot big man in his class in the entire country.  He admits that he needs to work on his strength around the basket.

Jennings still has another year before he can suit up in purple and orange, but he’s ready now.  Except for one thing - “I know how much I’m going to have to run,” Jennings admits.  “So that’s the one thing that keeps me from saying I can’t wait to be there.”
