Election officials brace for large voter turnout

It’s now past deadline for South Carolina residents to register to vote in Nov. 4 election.
But, earlier Saturday voter registration offices were open in the Pee Dee and across the state and many people took advantage of that to register.

Deadline looms for Atlantic Beach mayor candidate’s appeal

The South Carolina Supreme Court decided earlier this month to grant Councilwoman Retha Pierce’s appeal of a circuit court order to hold a new election in the town’s disputed mayor’s race. Pierce’s initial brief must be postmarked by the close of business Monday.
