COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) _ Gov. Mark Sanford doesn’t have his sights set on a state political race anytime soon, but he’s still got a pile of cash.
The Republican governor’s campaign finance report Thursday showed he had $1.7 million on hand at the end of June.
Sanford is in his second term as governor and can’t run for a third under the state Constitution.
He spent $25,606 from April through June. Nearly all was paid to political consulting firm Red Sea LLC.
Sanford also took in $11,510, with all but $1,000 from bank interest.
