COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) _ South Carolina election officials are meeting Friday to certify the results of this week’s votes in the Republican and Democratic primaries for federal and state offices.
A dozen races are headed for runoffs. Three primary races will have to be recounted, including the Democratic primary for U.S. Senate. Bob Conley beat Michael Cone by fewer than 1,000 votes out of 146,000 votes cast.
If a candidate did not get more than 50 percent of the vote, a runoff election will be held June 24.
