Workshops will teach how to avoid foreclosure

The Homeownership Resource Center, a division of the South Carolina nonprofit organization Family Services Inc., will hold foreclosure prevention counseling workshops in the Pee Dee to assist homeowners having trouble paying their mortgage.
The workshops will be from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at both Lighthouse Ministries, 210 E. Elm St., Florence, and Community Development Corp. of Marlboro County, 103 E. Market St., Bennettsville; 9 to 11:30 a.m. Oct. 18 at Dillon Fire Department, 209 S. Eighth Ave., Dillon; and from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Oct. 21 at Community Development Corp. of Marlboro County, 103 E. Market St., Bennettsville.
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development-approved workshops are free, but but pre-registration is required. Children cannot be accommodated during the workshops. To register or for details, call (888) 320-0350 or visit http://www.ForeclosureHelpforSC.org online.
