Trial under way in fatal nightclub shooting

The trial of a Lake City man accused of killing two people and injuring nine others at a Lynchburg nightclub began Monday in Lee County.
Jeremy Lenard McMillan, 23, of 115 Brown St., faces murder charges in connection with the April 29, 2006, shooting deaths of 38-year-old Pat Hood of Timmonsville and 24-year-old Josh Tremaine Lee of Lynchburg at Mr. C’s nightclub in Lynchburg.
His co-defendant, Toby Fulmore III, also faced murder charges in connection with the incident, but later pleaded guilty to accessory after the fact of felony and testified against McMillan, Lee County Sheriff’s Maj. Daniel Simon said.
Fulmore told the jury McMillan hid the weapons used in the murders at his grandmother’s house.
Several witnesses, including the sponsor of the club party where the shootings happened, testified against McMillan. One of the witnesses told the court he saw McMillan fire an AK-47, Simon said.
Third Circuit Assistant Solicitor Paul Fata is prosecuting the case. Cesar McKnight of Lake City is McMillan’s attorney.
