JOHNSONVILLE – The brief search for a missing man, that had started Thursday morning, ended when he walked out of the woods around 4 p.m. Thursday.
Florence County sheriff’s deputies, along with the state Department of Natural Resources officers, had been searching the Johnsonville area around the Great Pee Dee River for him earlier Thursday.
David Allen Kennedy, 23, was reported as last seen about 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, Florence County Sheriff’s Lt. Brett Camp said.
Kennedy was out fishing with a friend on the Great Pee Dee River in Johnsonville when their boat ran out of gas, Camp said. Kennedy got out and then started drifting down the river.
Officers, along with bloodhounds, began searching early Thursday morning for Kennedy.

Note to self: Check gas before getting into boat! OR take along paddles! If above don’t work, drift inside boat, not out.
Glad I was able to learn from someone else’s mistake! Thanks WBTW!!
