School district to host magnet schools fair

Darlington County School District will host a magnet schools fair for prospective magnet school students and their parents.
The event will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Hartsville Middle School, 1427 14th St. The event marks the opening of the magnet application process, which lasts through Dec. 5.
Current students and teachers from each of the district’s programs will be on hand to answer questions and share information. Student work also will be displayed. Students from the art magnet programs will perform throughout the evening while students from the science and math programs will offer demonstrations and experiments.
Special guest entertainment will be provided by the Darlington High and Hartsville High cheerleaders and “Uncle Buddah Ratt & DJ Tazz” from 106.3 FM. The Hartsville Fire Department will also be on hand with its “smoke house” to teach children about fire safety.
