An airplane has landed safely following a Signal 2 alert of engine failure.
According to Dusty Owens, Florence County Emergency Management director, a Piper Aircraft was about six miles from landing at the Florence Regional Airport when the pilot called in with engine failure.
Owens said EMS responded to a standby position at the airport along with a group of firefighters and law enforcement awaiting the airplane.
A Signal 2 is a moderate alert on a scale of one to three with a Signal 3 being an airplane crash.
