A Pageland woman has been indicted for theft of federal government funds, U.S. Attorney W. Walter Wilkins said in a press release.
Federal agents allege that 31-year-old Sarah Faye Price received Social Security benefits for a minor relative, but continued to receive and spend for herself about $20,000 in benefits even after the relative left her care.
Price faces a $250,000 fine and 10 years in prison if convicted.
The case was investigated by Social Security Administration agents, and is assigned to Assistant U.S. Attorney William E. Day II of the Florence office for prosecution.
