One dead, three in the hospital after I-95 crash

One person is dead and three are recovering in the hospital following a car wreck Thursday night, according to Florence County Coroner Bubba Matthews.

According to Matthews, around 7:25 p.m., April J. Scott, 26, was with her mother and two friends driving from Florida to Pennsylvania on Interstate 95, when they swerved to avoid another vehicle and went down an embankment. 

The car then struck a tree, killing Scott. 

“April J. Scott died at the scene,” Matthews said. “She was pronounced dead inside the car as a result of injuries received during the accident.”

Matthews said Scott’s mother and two friends were sent to area hospitals where they are recovering.
