One day after Tommy Bowden stepped down as head coach of the Clemson Tigers, many local residents are still talking about it.
This was Bowden’s tenth season at the university and some expected him to finish it.
“Well, I was a little surprised.  I didn’t expect it halfway through the season.  Although, it’s been a tough season,” said Bob Scripnick, a Clemson fan who lives in Florence.
The Tigers have experienced a rough season thus far.  They currently stand 3-3 despite the fact that they began the season ranked ninth in the country.  They were even predicted to win the ACC.
Dabo Swinney, Clemson’s receivers coach, will replace Bowden as interim coach.
Some local fans said they hope the change means a rebound for the Tigers.
