A 16-year-old has been arrested in connection with a home invasion that happened Tuesday in Latta, Marion County Sheriff Mark Richardson said.
The teen, whose identity wasn’t released, is charged with first-degree burglary, armed robbery and grand larceny, Richardson said.
Deputies were dispatched to the residence on Jade Court in Latta about 3:30 a.m. Tuesday. The homeowner said she was awakened by a noise, went to investigate and was confronted by the suspect, who was armed with a silver rod, according to a press release issued by Richardson. The burglar demanded her purse and the keys to her vehicle, in which he fled the scene.
The teen was arrested after a brief investigation and taken to the state Department of Juvenile Justice in Columbia on Wednesday, according to the release.
