Hartsville man dies in motorcycle crash

A Hartsville man died Wednesday after he lost control of his motorcycle, according to a press release issued Thursday by the Hartsville Police Department.

Otis Wayne Futrell, 49, died at a local hospital at 5 p.m. according to Darlington County Coroner Todd Hardee’s office.

Police responded to the crash at about 4:30 p.m. at North Fifth Street and Lanier Drive, according to the release. An investigation showed Futrell was traveling north on Fifth Street when he lost control of his motorcycle and struck a utility pole.
