A Florence man was arrested Tuesday after investigators said he called E-911 several times to threaten dispatchers, Florence County Sheriff’s Lt. Brett Camp said.

Shawn Patrick Firestine, 40, of 1001 Jamestown Road is charged with unlawful use of 911, Florence County Detention Center bookings reports show.

Deputies said the suspect began calling 911 after midnight and used profanity and made threats against the dispatchers who answered, Camp said.

Law enforcement officers warned the suspect not to call 911 unless it was an emergency, but the suspect called eight more times, Camp said. Deputies showed up at the man’s residence and found him intoxicated.

He was arrested and booked at the jail in Effingham were he remains under a $1,000 surety bond
