Florence police have arrested a suspect in the Sept. 29 robbery of Pee Dee Federal Credit Union.

Tracy Rose, 51, of 1826 Autumn Lane, was arrested Sunday and is charged with armed robbery, according to Florence County Detention Center booking reports.

The suspect entered the credit union, located at 305 Pine St., just before 1 p.m. He had a stocking over his face, his hand under his shirt and indicated he was armed, Florence Police Maj. Carlos Raines said.

The suspect ran from the scene and got away with an undisclosed amount of cash after handing a teller a threatening note, Raines said.

There were eight employees and no other customers inside during the robbery, and no one was injured, Raines said.

Police patrolled the surrounding area after the robbery, while the crime scene unit gathered evidence, including surveillance video from the credit union, Raines said.

Booking reports show Rose has been arrested on six previous occasions for shoplifting. He also faced a forgery and probation violation charge.

Rose remains in custody at the jail in Effingham awaiting a bond hearing.
