Doctor joins Marion County obstetrics team

Jun Koike, M.D., will join the Marion County Medical Center OB/GYN as of Aug. 1. Dr. Koike previously was an obstetrics and gynecologic resident physician at the Charleston Area Medical Center’s Women and Children Hospital in Charleston, W.Va. There he was nominated for “The Best PGY2 Teaching Resident.”

Koike received his bachelor’s of arts degree in biology from the Saint Mary’s University in Minnesota and received his medical degree from the Ross University of Medicine in Edison, N.J., where he volunteered at the Nippon Clinic in New York. He holds numerous certifications including ACLS/BLS, USMLE I, II and III, and CSA. 

“We welcome Dr. Koike to our team at the Marion County Medical Center OB/GYN,” said Gene Tucker, CEO of Marion Regional Healthcare System. “Dr. Koike has an impressive background in the field of Obstetrics and Gynecology and he will be a significant addition to our already incredibly talented team of physicians.”

Koike maintains several professional memberships including the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, the American Medical Association, the West Virginia Medical Society and the Kanawha Valley Medical Society. During his residency at the Charleston Area Medical Center, he made presentations on numerous topics, including chemotherapy, HELLP syndrome, spontaneous fetal bladder rupture in antepartum and colon cancer during late second trimester pregnancy. Koike is also fluent in Japanese.
