Florence County sheriff’s deputies said someone set fire to a lower Florence County convenience store on purpose and it’s all on tape, according to WBTW News13 reports.
It happened about 3 a.m. June 27 at Wilson’s Convenience Store at 1707 U.S. 52 in Scranton. Deputies said they heard the burglar alarm go off and went to investigate. People also called the sheriff’s office to report the store on fire.
Inside the store, surveillance tape showed a male pour liquid on the counter, walk away and then flames ignited.
Deputies said two matches were thrown on the counter, and it appears nothing was stolen.
An hour before the convenience store was set on fire, deputies said someone also set fire to one of the owner’s cars outside their home.
The two fires are thought to be connected.
Anyone with information about the fire is asked to call the sheriff’s office at (843) 665-2121 or Crime Stoppers of the Pee Dee at (843) 667-TIPS (8477) or (866) 369-TIPS (8477). Or the Arson hotline at 1 (800) 92-ARSON. Callers need not reveal their identities.
