Bike week may be underway along the Grand Strand, but the rumble can be heard as far away as Florence.  That’s because many bikers are stopping at Pee Dee businesses on their way to and from the coast.

One of the businesses that’s seeing a lot of traffic is Doug’s Harley-Davidson on TV Road.  Workers said they’ve been busy for the last week and a half selling everything from t-shirts to parts.

“Yes.  I stock up on t-shirts because we’re about out again and I do stock up on mechanical parts just because if a traveler comes in, we want to be able to get him on the road and get him going again,” said Donna Bair.

This year, however, workers said sales had been a little down.

“I think we have a lot more people riding their bikes because of the gas prices, but we haven’t seen the heavy traffic like we normally would.  Like right now it’s Friday, normally this place would be packed,” said Bair.

Still, Bair said bike week is a big time for them.

Several gas stations in the area said they’d seen bikers stop in for things like gas, food, and drinks.
