Authorities have captured the two men accused of breaking into a Latta policeman’s home and stealing the officer’s gun, Dillon County Sheriff’s Detective DeWitt Coleman said.
Perry Scott, 43, and Ricky Dewayne Williams, 46, of Latta face one charge each of first-degree burglary, safecracking and grand larceny, Coleman said.
Williams, arrested Thursday by a N.C. state trooper in Robeson County, faces an additional grand larceny count in connection with a car stolen in Dillon County, Coleman said.
The men are accused of breaking into the officer’s home July 6 and stealing the officer’s revolver as well as three personal handguns, money and jewelry, some of which has been recovered, Coleman said.
Scott, arrested Sunday in Florence County, is in Dillon County’s jail while Williams awaits extradition from a North Carolina jail, Coleman said. Both men will face bond hearings in circuit court in South Carolina.
