Myrtle Beach police say the first weekend of the Harley Davidson spring rally has been unfortunate.
Two bikers died in separate crashes over the weekend.
MBPD Investigator Jim Allen says the first crash happened just after 10:00 p.m. Saturday, on S.C. Highway 17 Business near Grand Dunes.
Investigator Allen says a truck hit a motorcycle and the driver of the motorcycle died and the passenger was taken to hospital and treated for severe injuries.
Horry County Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard says Angelo Gonzalez, 44, of Boardman, Ohio, died of multiple trauma.
Investigator Allen says Michael Allen Hilton, 56, of Myrtle Beach was arrested for 2 counts of Felony DUI. MBPD jail officials say Hilton posted 10% of his bond which was set at $75,000 for the two charges.
Investigator Allen says the female passenger who was on the motorcycle is recovering in the Intensive Care Unit at a local hospital.
The second crash happened just before 12:30 a.m. Sunday on Kings Highway near Main Street.
Willard says Roger Winburn, 46, of Darlington died from multiple trauma.
Investigator Allen says Winburn was going too fast to negotiate a curve in the road and his motorcycle slid into traffic and hit two other motorcycles.
The riders on the two other motorcycles were airlifted to MUSC in Charleston.
Investigator Allen says none of the motorcycle riders involved in the two crashes were wearing helmets.
